Art Historical Reconstruction: From the Library to the Laboratory (5 EC, Osiris course code GKMV25008)
Semester 1, block 2
This course explores reconstruction as a research method in art and architectural history from two perspectives: object-centered and process-centered. The object-centered approach focuses on digital research tools (3D digitization, XR) and analytical techniques. The process-centered approach examines historical making techniques and the context of materials, skills, and technological developments. You’ll work in the ArtLab, gaining hands-on experience with scientific reconstruction, from theory to practice.
The language of instruction is English, but assignments may be submitted in Dutch. The course welcomes master and research master students from diverse academic backgrounds and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration to tackle complex research questions. If your programme requires a different number of EC, please contact the course coordinator to explore options for integrating the course into your curriculum.
You can enroll in this via the Osiris course catalogue.
