ARTECHNE DATABASE on artisanal techniques
The ARTECHNE research database contains fully searchable digitised sources on artisanal techniques, such as recipes, books of secrets, and artist handbooks, from the period 1500-1900, in Latin, Dutch, German, English, French, Italian and Spanish.
The database has been developed as part of the ARTECHNE research project as a tool to digitally store, compare, and analyse textual sources and reconstruction experiments. Because all sources are geotagged, it is possible to visualise the geographical and historical spreading of the sources that come up in any given search in the geographical map and timeline.
FUNDING: ERC – European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement No 648718).
